Nigerians Roast Femi Adesina Over Statement On Killing Of Funke Olakunrin By ‘Herdsmen’

Nigerians have berated President Muhammadu Buhari‘s spokesman, Femi Adesina, over his statement on the killing of Funke Olakunrin, the daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

Naija News had reported earlier that the Yoruba socio-cultural organisation announced the killing of Mrs. Olakunrin by suspected herdsmen in a terse message sent to The PUNCH on Friday by the spokesman for Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin.

The spokesman for Afenifere said late Mrs Olakunrin, a 58-year-old woman, was heading to Ore Junction from Akure, Ondo State when she was attacked and shot by the herdsmen.

Buhari Vs Atiku: Justice Bulkachuwa Cancels Appeal Court Vacation

President of the Appeal Court of Nigeria, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, has directed Justices of the Appellate court to shelve plans of embarking on this year’s annual vacation.

Naija News understands that Justice Bulkachuwa gave the directive in view of the volume of pending election-related cases. Her directive was disclosed in a two-page circular issued last week.

The Nigerian Army has just released the postings and appointments of its officers. The posting which was approved yesterday by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai is a routine exercise carried out to reinvigorate the system for greater professional efficiency Naija News can authoritatively report.

The highlight includes the appointment of the newly promoted Lt Gen LO Adeosun, the erstwhile Chief of Training and Operations now redeployed as Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Maj Gen AO Shodunke from Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation to Defence Headquarters as Chief of Defence Logistics, Maj Gen AA Tarfa from Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre to Training and Doctrine Command Minna as Commander, Maj Gen EO Udoh from the Army Headquarters Department of Army Logistics becomes Chief of Training and Operations (Army), Maj Gen MS Yusuf who was the General Officer Commanding 81 Division is now Chief of Administration (Army), Maj Gen JI Unuigbe the former Corps Commander Ordnance becomes the Chief of Logistics (Army) while Maj Gen OF Azinta former General Officer Commanding 2 Division is appointed Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation.

Why Fulani Herdsmen Shouldn’t Be Blamed For Olakunrin’s Killing – Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to stop tagging Fulani Herdsmen as those responsible for the killing of the daughter of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Mrs Funke Olakunrin.

He made this known during a condolence visit to the Afenifere National Leader in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Sunday alongside Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and Chief Bisi Akande.

Naija News recalls that the deceased was reported to have been shot dead by suspected Fulani herdsmen within the Ore axis of the Benin-Sagamu expressway. Tinubu stated that the death of Mrs Olakunrin should not be used to divide Nigeria.

Just In: 10 Killed In Fresh Attack In Katsina State

Suspected bandits on Saturday evening killed 10 people and injured five in a fresh attack on Kirtawa village in Safana LGA of Katsina.

The suspected bandits also reportedly set ablaze five motor vehicles and four motorcycles during the attack, while they rustled cows. Confirming the incident on Sunday, the Katsina Police Command also disclosed that a soldier and one personal of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps were injured. The Command spokesperson, SP Gambo Isha stated that the bandits entered the village on motorcycles.

Isha said: “On 13/07/2019 at about 17:20hrs, a group of bandits numbering 300 on motorcycles armed with dangerous weapons invaded and attacked Kirtawa village, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Gunmen Kill Popular Chairman In Rivers

Some unknown gunmen on Sunday assassinated the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), of Choba Community in the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Lawrence Igwe. Naija News reports that Idwe was killed on Sunday morning alongside another prominent member of the community.

The assailants were said to have forcefully gained entry into the house of the late Igwe, before penetrating multiple shots on his in his bedroom.

Why I Assaulted Lady At Sex Toy Shop – Senator Abbo

Senator Elisha Abbo (PDP-Adamawa North) has revealed the reason he assaulted a lady at a sex toy shop in Abuja.Naija News recalls that Abbo, who is Nigeria’s youngest Senator, was caught on CCTV assaulting a nursing mother in an adult toy shop.

He, however, apologized to the woman and Nigerians, promising to be of good behaviour. Speaking with The Punch on Saturday, Abbo lamented that Nigerians don’t want to hear his side of the story.  He noted that there were many misgivings in the narratives in possession of most traditional and online media.
