Turkish football club, Fenerbahce, in a statement released on Wednesday, denied making a move for Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil.

The Germany international had joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013 but has been struggling under new manager Unai Emery last season.

A report has it that the coach of the North London side is keen on offloading the midfielder to reduce their wage bill.

But Fenerbahce, who were linked with a loan move for Ozil, have made it clear they cannot afford the player.

“Mesut Ozil, with his career and standing, successfully represents our country abroad (Ozil is of Turkish ancestry). He is an important value known with the identity of Fenerbahce.”

“However, Fenerbahce does not have a proposal for Mesut Ozil. Under the current economic conditions, such a step is not possible for both parties.”

“Our president, Ali Koc, made statements on the subject in the WinWin program held on June 20 and emphasised that this could not be realised in the short term.”
