Buhari Writes Senate Over Fresh Appointments
President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate seeking the confirmation of the lawmakers for some fresh appointments into various positions as required by law.
The President’s letter was read on the floor of the Senate during plenary on Tuesday by Senate President Ahmed Lawan.
Naija News gathered President Buhari is seeking Senate confirmation for the appointment of Professor Habu Galadima as the substantive Director General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos as well as the appointment of Mr. Uba Maska as Executive Director of the National Communication Commission.
Buhari said his letter to the Senate dated July 9, was backed by Section 8 (5) of the NIPSS Act, which empowers him to forward the name of nominees for the office to Senate for confirmation.
Also, the second letter quoted Section 8 (1) of the NCC Act as empowering the President to seek the Senate confirmation for the appointment.
He urged the lawmakers to give necessary support that would ensure smooth screening and confirmation of the nominees.
The President’s letter also contained an attached copy of the nominees’ curriculum vitae.
