Why Dino Melaye Joined Kogi Governorship Race

Kogi state governorship aspirant and senator representing Kogi west senatorial district, Dino Melaye has said that he joined the Kogi governorship race out of his love, sacrifice and passion to move the state forward.

Naija News reports that the Senator made this known while speaking shortly after he obtained the governorship ticket of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the party’s conference at the PDP headquarters in the state.

The PDP congress was understood to have taken place at the Luggard’s house in Lokoja, the state capital, where the party’s key players and stakeholders in the state were present.

While speaking briefly after the meeting, Melaye said that he had grown a passion to lead the state from unpaid salaries and wages and to revamp the state’s economy among others.

Naija News understands that Dino Melaye was quoted to have said; “Unemployment is on the high side, non-payment of salaries and pension is now a tradition in Kogi state.
The economy of Kogi state is not depleted.

I heard a laud cry from God that says who will I send, so I responded to God; Here am I send me. I am here to take Kogi state to the promised land.

We have passion for the people of Kogi state and I have proven that beyond a reasonable doubt. The battle to rescue our state is a battle of no retreat, no surrender.”

This is coming at a time that the stage seem set for the conduct of the Kogi election, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has gone ahead to release the time table for the schedule of activities in the coming Kogi state governorship election.
