AFCON: Round Of 16 Fixtures May Change Following Match-Fixing Allegations

There are speculations that the round of 16 fixtures of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations could be changed after Herald Newspaper claimed that Zimbabwe fixed their last group match against DR Congo.

Recall that the warriors were dumped from the competition, after losing 4-0 to the Congolese.

A report had it that Congolese businessman and politician, Moise Katumbi, the multi-millionaire owner of TP Mazembe, could have paid Zimbabwe goalkeeper, Elvis Chipezeze, to underperform in the big match and boost the cause of the Central Africans.

The Confederation of African Football emergency committee has reportedly begun an investigation into the matter, which could see DR Congo expelled from AFCON.

If this happens it could mean that Uganda will move up to the best third place, which will see the round of 16 fixtures reshuffled.
