Supreme Court Set To Deliver Judgment On Osun Guber

There is visible tension in Osun state as the Supreme Court is set to deliver a final judgment on the 2018 governorship election in the state.

Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party is challenging the election victory of Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress in the state’s governorship election.

Sen. Adeleke had been declared the winner by the tribunal on March 22 however, the Court of Appeal on May 9, overturned the tribunal’s judgment and affirmed Oyetola as the election winner, forcing the matter to the Supreme Court.

The apex court after its sittings, thereafter fixed July 5 for final judgment on the matter.

Ahead of the apex court declaration, Naija News reports the police has already placed its operatives on high alert to prevent any form of break down in law and order.

“Officers have been placed on red alert and are pro-active to prevent any kind of violence or demonstration in the state.

“We will, however, want to urge people of the state to maintain law and order and go about their lawful businesses without fear or intimidation,” DSP Folashade Odoro said.
