Some Easy Steps To Avoid Rape

Rape Case

As much as there is no right or wrong way to avoid rape, there are ways such individuals can prevent rape from happening to them.

Fact is if a person is raped, it isn’t because he/she did not fight for freedom, it is because someone stronger forced him or her.

These tips may help any person avoid rape

  • Do your work with other women. You will be safer and stronger if you work together in groups
  • Do not let anyone who makes you feel nervous into your home. Do not let him know if you are there alone.
  • Try not to walk alone, especially at night. If you must go alone, hold your head up and act as though you feel confident. Most rapists will look for a woman who looks easy to attack.
  • If you think you are being followed, try walking in another direction, or go up to another person, a house, or a store. Or, turn around and ask him very loudly what he wants.
  • Learn to trust your feelings: Because most women have been taught to be polite always, many find it difficult to express themselves when they feel offended by others.
  • If you dislike the physical contact he makes, rather than assume that you may be wrong with your interpretation of his look and embarrass him by running away, it is better to be wrong than to be raped.
  • Avoid going somewhere especially a lonely place with a man you feel uncomfortable with or who you do not know well.
  • If you find yourself with the opposite sex touching you in an uncomfortable manner, try to get away from him as soon as possible.

If he has power over you (for example if he is your boss, your doctor, a teacher, or an official):

  • The first time he does something that makes you feel uncomfortable, immediately tell him to stop. He is less likely to treat you badly (for example to fire you, refuse you medical care, or deny your request) if you stop him from the beginning than make him look stupid.
  • Discuss with other women about him. you will be shocked to find out you are not the only one he is disturbing.
  • If you must continue to deal with him, try to bring a friend with you so you are never alone with him. Warn other women to be careful.
