Osun State Awaits Supreme Court Judgement

The Osun State Police Command, on Thursday, told the people and residents of the state to maintain total law and order ahead of the Supreme Court Judgement on Friday.

Naija News recalls the nation’s apex court is set to deliver its final judgement on the 2018 Osun governorship election.

DSP Folashade Odoro, the spokesperson of the Osun command, told NAN that its men and officers have been placed on full alert to curb any unforeseen situation before, during and after the declaration by the Supreme Court.

“Officers have been placed on red alert and are pro-active to prevent any kind of violence or demonstration in the state.

“We will, however, want to urge people of the state to maintain law and order and go about their lawful businesses without fear or intimidation,” she said.

It will be recalled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, are challenging the election victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Gov. Gboyega Oyetola, at the Osun 2018 Governorship Election Tribunal.

Sen. Adeleke had been declared the winner by the tribunal on March 22 however, the Court of Appeal on May 9, overturned the tribunal’s judgement and affirmed Oyetola as the election winner, forcing the matter to the Supreme Court.

The apex court after its sittings, thereafter fixed July 5 for final judgement on the matter.
