I Raped Teenager Under The Influence Of Alcohol, Cigarette – Suspect

A Ghanaian man identified as Joe Osein, while being arraigned before the Osun State Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo stated that he raped his victim while under the influence of alcohol.

Abiodun Fagboyinbo, the police prosecutor, told the court that Osien confessed to feeling bad after he had committed the crime alongside one Gbenga Ayelangbe, a commercial motorcyclist, on June 16, 2019, around 10 pm in Osogbo.

According to report, Osein and Ayelangbe after beating the victim took her on a motorcycle to the latter’s residence in the Kolawole area of Osogbo, where they allegedly raped her, stole her mobile phone and bag containing the sum of N34,500.

The prosecutor claimed that the offences contravened Cap 516 A(1) , 335, 357 and 390(4) B, Laws of Osun State, 2003.

The accused, who was arraigned on five counts bordering on rape and stealing, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Osein told the magistrate, M. Awodele, that he was out of his senses after consuming bottles of an alcoholic drink and smoking cigarettes.

He pleaded for leniency.

Ayelangbe stated that his wife left him following a misunderstanding, he added that though he did not drink alcohol, he could not control his urge on the day of the incident.

The accused did not have legal representation in court.

Awodele remanded them in prison and adjourned the matter till July 30, 2019.
