A man identified as Umar Abubakar, who allegedly hacked his neighbour, Umaru Mohammed to death was on Tuesday, ordered by the Ilorin Magistrate Court to be remanded in prison pending further investigation by the police.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Abdullahi Sanni, while speaking in the court stated that the accused was arrested on June 20 after a fight between him and the deceased.

Sanni further stated that the fight started between the two because the deceased didn’t allow the defendant to play with his sister.

He further stated that the incident happened at Banni in Kosubosu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Sanni said that the defendant was brought to court on one-count of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code Law.

He prayed the court to remand the defendant in prison pending the completion of the investigation

Magistrate Jumoke Bamigboye in her ruling denied the plea of the defendant and ordered that he be remanded at the Okekura Prison, Ilorin.

She, therefore, adjourned the case till July 26 for further mention.
