The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally broken silence to speak on the inconclusive elections recorded in the 2019 polls.

Naija News reports that the electoral umpire blamed insecurity for the majority of the elections declared inconclusive in some parts of the country.

INEC chairman, Prof. Mamood Yakubu, stated this during the Commission’s meeting with security agencies.

In the meeting involving INEC and the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) is in continuation of the 2019 general election review meetings.

The meeting also had in attendance the security agencies that participated in the election.

Yakubu, who is the co-chair of ICCES, also called for immediate prosecution for all arrested for electoral offences in the 2019 general polls.

The chairman of the electoral umpire pointed out that he will continue to champion the call for the creation of a different body to deal with electoral offences.
