Former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has condemned the attempted coup to oust Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed.

Naija News reports that the remark of the former Vice President of Nigeria came hours after the Ethiopian Prime Minister confirmed the death of the nation’s chief of Army by his own bodyguard in an attempt to foil the coup.

This online news platform understands that Atiku condemned the attempt via his handle on the microblogging site, Twitter.

In a series of Tweets captured by Naija News, Atiku said as thus; “Alhaji Atiku Abubakar tweet reads: The coup attempt against the democratically elected government of @PMEthiopia stands condemned. Democracy has come to stay in Africa and we must accept this. As a democrat, my right hand of fellowship is offered to the people of Ethiopia. Long live democracy in Africa -AA.”
