President Muhammadu Buhari‘s former minister has revealed that the president may send the list of his next cabinet to the Senate next month.

The former minister told The Punch that Buhari is trying to avoid the mistake of waiting for six months to appoint ministers in his first term.

Speaking further, he also disclosed that former ministers are not sure of returning to the highly anticipated ‘Next Level’ cabinet.

“We have the rumour that the President might submit the names of the new ministers to the Senate early next month,” he said.

“I think he is aware that the Senate will embark on another round of recess before the end of July. So, he will have to send the list to the senators as soon as they return on July 2.

“Though our party, the All Progressives Congress, controls the National Assembly, I don’t think it will be cost-effective to summon the senators for the ministerial clearance after they might have gone on another break.”

The former minister also dismissed reports that the presidency has asked for the submission of curriculum vitae for possible reappointment.

“The President is the only person who knows who will return,” he said.

Naija News understands that the National Assembly will resume sitting on July 2 and later proceed on their annual two-month vacation from July 26.
