Super Eagles forward Samuel Kalu on Friday suffered a heart attack ahead of his teams Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) clash against Burundi.

Naija News gathered that the Bordeaux of France attacker collapsed during training and has been transported to a local hospital.

Daily Independent, however, confirmed that the forward is ‘okay’ and ‘stabilised’.

“I have been told Samuel Kalu has been stabilised. He was taken to hospital for tests and he is certified okay.

“He was dehydrated, they said. Told him he needs to be taking enough fluids,” Demola Olaajire, the Nigeria Football Federation spokesperson, said.

Samuel Kalu has made just five appearances for the Eagles since making his debut in 2018 and has scored one goal in the process.

Recall that Kalu’s mother was abducted in Aba by kidnappers who demanded some three million Naira ($40,000, 35,000 euros) for her release.

Ozuruonye Juliet Kalu was seized from her car on February 27 as she travelled to her home in Abia state.

Police later confirmed her release after the kidnappers held her for nearly a week.
