Fuel Subsidy: Buhari Plunged Nigeria Into Deeper Crisis - Northern Groups Hails Tinubu

A civil society group, Coalition against Financial Crimes and Injustice (CFCI), on Thursday warned President Muhammadu Buhari against considering the former Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar for any ministerial or political appointment.

Naija News reports that the civil society group gave the advice on Thursday, June 20 at a press briefing in Bauchi.

The Chairman of the group, Alhaji Bibi Dogo, while speaking on Thursday said that by appointing people facing allegations of corruption, the image of the Buhari-led administration as being intolerant of corruption is being tarnished.

Dogo in his speech alleged that the ex-governor was a nemesis to the progress and development of Bauchi state.

He alleged that the former governor of the state ruled the state for four years without completing any single project despite the billions of naira that Dogo stressed that he collected from the federation account.

In his speech at the Press conference, Dogo alleged that appointing the former governor could hurt Buharis next level agenda, and went ahead to urge the President not to consider appointing the former governor as member of his yet-to-be constituted cabinet.

In the statement obtained by Naija News, Dogo said; “We are giving this advice because our organization believes in the administration of Buhari whose track record is fighting corruption, corrupt practices and entrenching truth, honesty and integrity. We advise that the President should appoint his cabinet in a manner that will ensure they do not become liabilities to the government or dent his impeccable image.”

Dogo said appointing Abubakar may not mean well for the people of Bauchi state whom he claimed had voted-out the former governor due to his non-performance; as Dogo also said that Abubakar’s appointment would “allow him to acquire a fresh political power from the back door as minister.”

“I served in the transition committee and it is on record that Governor Abubakar left Bauchi with over N137 billion debts,” Dogo‎ alleged.
