Boko Haram Attacks Borno Military Base, 'Kill Six Soldiers'

Boko Haram insurgents have attacked a military base at Gajiram Nganzai LGA of Borno, killing 20 soldiers and abducting several others.

According to Breaking Times, Boko Haram was said to have come from the axis of Badu, about 45km on the semiarid desert to Gajiram and proceeded from Badu to Gajiram by 4pm in 9 fully-loaded pickup vans.

“The soldiers were overpowered by the insurgents, killing over 20 and taking many others as captives,” a resident who saw the insurgents lead soldiers away said.

It was gathered that military equipment were also carted away.

As at the time of filing this report, it could not be confirmed which faction of the insurgents carried out the attack.

Naija News recalls that a faction of Boko Haram is still loyal to its leader Abubakar Shekau, while another faction had pledge loyalty to the Islamic State and adopted a new name, Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP).
