Motorists who disobedience Traffic rules and regulations may find it really difficult henceforth as the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority LASTMA have gone tough on them with a higher level of punishment for defaulters.

The new report states that the new government, under Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is out to tackle traffic in the state

The Lagos State House of Assembly had set the Traffic Laws in 2012.

According to them, it was aimed at protecting law-abiding road users, while defaulters suffer the consequences of their actions.

The sanction then ranged between ₦5,000 fine to N50,000, jail terms and forfeiture of vehicles.

However, the new administration has introduced a more severe penalty of N200,000 for one-way offense, also, all the violations that erstwhile had no monetary penalties now attract fines of between N20,000 to N90,000.
