The Supreme Court of Nigeria has fixed today, Monday, to hear the appeal filed by Ademola Adeleke against the election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State.

The Registry of the Supreme Court had disclosed today as the hearing day to parties involved in the case.

Adeleke is praying the Apex court to dismiss the ruling of the Appeal Court that upheld the election of Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News recalls that the election tribunal had declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) party candidate, Adeleke, as the winner of the governorship election held last year.

Oyetola, APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) appealed the majority judgment at the Court of Appeal.

On May 9, 2019, the Court of Appeal upheld the appeals by Oyetola, APC and INEC.

The appellate court set aside the judgment of the election tribunal, upheld the result as declared by INEC and affirmed Oyetola as the winner of the election.
