1. National Assembly Will Pass Budget Within 3 Months – Lawan

Senator Ahmad Lawan, the President of the 9th Nigerian Senate, has assured Nigerians that the National Assembly will ensure the nation’s appropriation bill is passed within three months of its submission by the Executive arm of government. Naija News reports that Lawan gave the assurance when he fielded questions from State House correspondents after joining President Muhammadu Buhari to perform the weekly Friday’s Juma’at prayer at the Aso Rock Mosque in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

2. Supreme Court Sacks Another APC Senator, Orders Replacement

The Supreme Court on Friday sacked Senator David Umaru as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Niger-East Senatorial District of Niger State. It also ordered that Mohammed Sani Musa be recognized as the authentic winner of the last election for the Niger-East Senatorial District.

Report reaching Naija News suggests that a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Babayo Gamawa, has passed away. Naija News understands that Gamawa passed away in the late hours of Friday, June 6 in Bauchi after a brief illness.

5. Buhari Gives Directive To CBN Over Importation Of 43 Items

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to blacklist any firm or owner caught smuggling any of the restricted 43 items into Nigeria. CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, made this known during a meeting with oil palm producers in Abuja.

6. Kano Emirate: Court Dismisses Suit Stopping New Emirs From Carrying Out Their Activities

An application filed by four Kano Emirate kingmakers to stop the newly installed Emirs from parading themselves as Emirs has been dismissed by a Kano High Court. The application which was filed by the kingmaker’s counsel, Barr. Suraj Saida, SAN, was dismissed by the presiding Judge, Justice Ahmed Tijjani Badamosi.

7. Ohaneze Writes President Buhari, Make Fresh Demands

The Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) has lamented that the South East zone was manipulated out of several leadership positions in Nigeria. The group, however, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) from the South-East region of the country in order to give the zone a sense of belonging.

8. Zamfara State: Police Reveals New Strategy To Address Bandits Attack

In the midst of government doubled efforts to end bandits operations in Zamfara state, the state’s new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Usman Nagogo, has said that he would deploy dialogue, as against firepower, to tackle the trend. Nagogo disclosed this information at a press briefing where he formally met with media practitioners in the state.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dropped to 45th spot in the latest FIFA world ranking released by International Federation of Association Football. This means Nigeria dropped down three places in the ranking released on Friday.
