NYSC Has Not United Nigeria - Shehu Sani Tackles Scheme's DG

Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central at the 8th Nigerian Senate, has questioned claims by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, that it does not have a server where results of the February 23 presidential election were uploaded.

Naija News recalls that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party and its presidential candidate in the February 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, prayed the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Thursday, to order INEC to grant them permission to inspect the commission’s saver.

However, in response, Yunus Ustaz Usman (SAN), the Counsel to INEC, urged the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal to strike out the application of the PDP and Atiku, adding that: “They are asking us to bring something we don’t have.”

In the same vein, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), the counsel to President Muhammadu Buhari and that of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, Lateef Fagnemi (SAN), asked the court to dismiss the application for failing to disclose the existence of the server.

Moments after the news broke, Sani took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to react to INEC’s claims.

The fomer lawmaker tweeted:  “It’s interesting and wonderful to know that INEC has no server or rather ‘serverless’.”
