1. Imo: Uche Nwosu’s Running Mate Defects To PDP

Iheanacho Ihim, the running mate to the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party.

The former speaker defected to PDP on Thursday during the Inauguration of the State house of Assembly.

2. Atiku Vs Buhari: Election Tribunal Takes Decision On Atiku’s Request To Access INEC Server

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has reserved judgement on the application by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar to be granted access to inspect the server and data of smart card readers used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Justice Mohammed Garba-led tribunal took the decision on Thursday after hearing parties involved in the petition.

3. Appeal Court Delivers Ruling On Senator Bulkachuwa’s Election

The Court of Appeal, Abuja, has rejected a suit seeking the nullification of the elections of Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa (APC-Bauchi North).

The appellant, Alhaji Usman Tuggar, had asked the court to sack the senator stating that Bulkachuwa was not the proper candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the senatorial seat.

4. Presidential Election Tribunal: INEC Responds To PDP, Atiku’s Request To Access Server

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed claims of a server where results of the February 23 presidential election were uploaded.

Naija News reports that the electoral commission made this known at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on Thursday while responding to an application by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar to inspect its servers.

5. Buhari Backs Creation Of Sahrawi Republic

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday backed the people of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in their quest for self-determination and independence.

Buhari’s position was made known in a statement sent to Naija News and signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

6. How APC Senators Stopped Senate From Debating Buhari’s Democracy Day Speech

Senators of All Progressives Congress (APC) have on Thursday, blocked a motion that sought to debate the speech delivered by President Muhammadu Buhari on Nigeria’s Democracy Day.

The motion was brought forth by Senator Istifanus Dung Gyang (PDP, Plateau).

7. Abaribe Named Senate Minority Leader

Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has been named the Minority Leader of the 9th Senate.

Abaribe became Abia State’s Deputy Governor after Orji Uzor Kalu’s 1999 election to the Governorship.

8. Atiku vs Buhari: Opposition Party Makes Fresh Demand From Presidential Election Tribunal

One of the parties that instituted a case against the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 23, 2019, presidential election has made a fresh demand.

Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and its presidential candidate, Albert Oworu, urged the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to cancel the presidential election.

9. Rochas Okorocha Sworn In As Senator Representing Imo West

After receiving his certificate of return, the former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has been sworn as a Senator of the federal republic of Nigeria.

Clerk to the Senate, Nelson Ayewoh, conducted the swearing-in ceremony after which Okorocha signed necessary documents.

10. Senate Adjourns Plenary Until July 2nd, 2019

Nigeria Senate will not be seating for the next two weeks as it adjourns plenary until July 2nd, 2019.

Naija News learnt that the adjournment was necessary to allow the National Assembly management work with an ad-hoc committee on welfare of the Senate to allocate offices and seats to the senators.
