Unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Sunday abducted a middle-aged woman identified as Olawumi Adeleye and her stepson, Destiny Paul, along the busy Airport Road in Osi town in the Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Naija News reports that the duo was kidnapped in the afternoon hours of Sunday on their way back from a religious centre where they had gone to observe a Sunday service.

The gunmen were said to have barricaded with cows and compelling the victims who were on board a Lexus car to stop along the road.

Upon sighting that the herders were armed to the teeth the victims had no much choice but to obey their abductors who whisked them away to an unknown location.

While narrating the incident a source who requested anonymity said in a statement obtained by this news platform that reads as thus; Mrs. Adeleye was coming from the church with her boy suddenly the Fulani herdsmen put scores of their cows on the road.

“As the woman was trying to make a U-turn, to escape from the scene, they attacked her and damaged her car and later took her away with the boy.”

The kidnappers had already contacted the family of the victims, demanding for a ransom of N10 million, a source from the family of the victims was reported to have said.

While confirming the incident, the monarch of Osi town, Oba David Olajide who was judging based on the reports before him, revealed that tthe two victims were abducted by suspected Fulani herdsmen on their way from the church.

Oba Olajide said: “It happened very close to the Akure Airport, they were kidnapped around 5:20pm yesterday (Sunday evening).”

In a bid to secure the release of the victims, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State, Femi Joseph, said that the men of the command had already begun to trail the hoodlums.

In his words, Joseph was reported to have said; “We have already swung into action, and we will soon get the victims free, unhurt. We have also started an investigation into the incident.”
