The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will recommence hearing on the petition filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari today, Monday.

During the sitting of the Tribunal, the justice that will replace the President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, will also be made known.

Recall that Justice Bulkachuwa had recused herself from the panel after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku asked her to step aside over possible bias in handling the petition.

Bulkachuwa’s husband is a Senator-elect under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and her son was a governorship aspirant under the platform of the ruling party.

Naija News had reported that the parties involved were issued and served the notice of Monday’s hearing on Friday.

This is coming after the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, had written to Justice Bulkachuwa demanding she appoints her replacement so the hearing could resume.

The petitioner’s letter signed on behalf of Livy Uzoukwu (SAN) by Barrister Silas Onu noted that as of May 31 when the letter was delivered to Bulkachuwa, it was nine days since she recused herself from the tribunal yet nothing had been heard about her replacement.
