Buhari Govt Take Over Goje’s Fraud Case From EFCC

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government has taken over the N5bn money laundering case against Senator Danjuma Goje (APC-Gombe Central) from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Naija News notes that this is coming after Goje dropped his Senate Presidency ambition to back Buhari’s preferred candidate, Senator Ahmed Lawan (APC-Yobe North).

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been appointed the Chairman of the African Union’s International Summit Council for Peace (ISCP).

Atiku Vs Buhari: PDP May Petition NJC Over Bulkachuwa

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it may petition the National Judicial Council (NJC) over Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa refusal to name her replacement in the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

Speaking to The Punch, the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary,  Diran Odeyemi, said Bulkachuwa’s replacement could have been announced within 24 hours after she recused herself from the tribunal.

Atiku Vs Buhari: Presidential Election Tribunal Reveals Date To Begin Hearing

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will recommence hearing on the petition filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, June 10.

Indications have also emerged that the President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, is set to name her replacement in the presidential elections petition tribunal.

Kashamu: Supreme Court Set Date To Hear Extradition Suit

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has set June 10 to continue hearing the suit filed by Senator Buruji Kashamu (PDP-Ogun East) to stop the federal government from extraditing him to the United States of America (USA) on allegations of drug trafficking.

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) are respondents in the suit filed by the lawmaker.

Okorocha: Court Takes Decision On Certificate Of Return

Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Rochas Okorocha.

Delivering judgement on Friday, Justice Abang dismissed the submission by candidates of the PDP, Jones Onyeriri and APGA, Osita Izunaso that the matter ought to be taken to the election petitions tribunal since it has become a post-election matter which robbed the court of jurisdiction under sections 285, 251(1) of the 1999 Constitution.
