The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal will recommence hearing on the petition filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar challenging the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, June 10.

Indications have also emerged that the President of the Appeal Court, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, is set to name her replacement in the presidential elections petition tribunal.

Naija News gathered that the parties involved were issued and served the notice of Monday’s hearing on Friday.

Confirming the development to The Punch, counsel to PDP and Atiku., Dr Livy Uzoukwu, said: “We were served the notice today that the court will resume hearing on Monday.”

This is coming after the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, had written to Justice Bulkachuwa demanding she appoints her replacement so the hearing could resume.

The petitioner’s letter signed on behalf of Uzoukwu by Barrister Silas Onu noted that as of May 31 when the letter was delivered to Bulkachuwa, it was nine days since she recused herself from the tribunal yet nothing had been heard about her replacement.

“Considering the strict requirement of keeping to the constitutional calendar for a petition and the obvious fact that time is also running fast against the petitioners, we pray my Lord to act by appointing a replacement so that we will get a hearing notice and continue with the petition in the interest of justice,” the letter read in part.
