Truck Crushes Passengers To Death In Ogun

Two persons have been killed while others have been left with various degrees of injuries in an accident involving an Iveco truck with registration number SRA 757 XA and a Bajaj motorcycle.

Naija News understands that the incident occurred along the Obantoko road, opposite Egba High School in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

This news platform found out that the incident happened when the motorcycle rider overtook the truck on high speed on the busy expressway.

The rider of the motorcycle and his two passengers were said to have crashed into the truck as the truck driver was said to have swerved his steering towards the left in a deliberate attempt to avoid a pothole on the road.

Unknown to the truck driver, the motorcycle had approached the truck and uncontrollably ran into the truck, killing two passengers of the motorcycle while the rider of the motorcycle escaped death.

While confirming the incident, the spokesperson, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, noted that the corpses of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of General Hospital, Ijaye in Abeokuta.

In his words, Akinbiyi explained; “Eyewitness confirmed that the motorcyclist overtook wrongly and rammed into a moving truck. The motorcycle and the truck were moving toward Obantoko, Moore junction.

“The truck driver, in an attempt to avoid a pothole, swerved to the left, not knowing that the Okada rider was fast approaching from the rear before it rammed into the truck.

“The driver of the truck, his motor boy and the Okada rider ran away but the two passengers on the motorcycle died.

“The truck and the motorcycle involved in the accident have been taken to the Divisional Police Station, Obantoko.”
