APC, PDP Senators Disagree Over Electronic Transmission Of Election Results

41 Senators-elect across party lines on Friday attended the launch of Senator Ahmed Lawan’s Legislative Agenda of the 9th Senate.

Naija News reports that Lawan, who was the majority leader of the 8th Senate, is contesting for the Senate Presidency of the 9th Senate against Senator Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South).

The lawmakers including four Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one Young Peoples Party (YPP) joined Lawan at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja venue to unveil the 20-page Agenda titled “A National Assembly That Works For Nigeria: Proposed Legislative Agenda for The 9th Senate”.

The PDP Senators-elect in attendance include Abba Moro, Mathew Urhoghede, Clifford Ordia, Genshaw Bassey and YPP Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

The APC Senators-elect who also graced the function include Orji Uzor Kalu, Kabiru Gaya, Opeyemi Bamidele, Ibrahim Oloriegbe, Teslim Folarin and Barau Jibrin.

Speaking at the launch, Lawan said that the Senate under his leadership would not be an appendage of the executive.

“We will disagree on issues, but we have to disagree to agree. We will disagree with respect.

“There will not be a Senate which will be a rubber stamp of the Executive under my watch, but a Senate that is highly responsible and committed to those things that work for the country,” he said.
