The question on the lips of most Nigerian students is if the 2019/2020 cut-off marks for universities, polytechnics and Colleges of Education have been released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Naija News recalls that the Board conducted the 2019 UTME between April 11 and 18, with massive malpractice recorded during the UTME, a situation which JAMB officials regretted.

After JAMB concluded the 2019 UTME exercise, many had thought the results would be out in a few days as promised by the Board but the reserve was the case with students waiting twenty-one days (three weeks) after before the results were released.

This online news platform recalls that JAMB released results of 1,792,719 candidates who sat for this year’s UTME on Saturday, May 11, exactly twenty-two days after it conducted the examination.

Just like the students anticipated the UTME results, they are also anticipating this year’s cut-off marks for universities, polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

Is 2019/2020 JAMB Cut-Off Marks Out?

“What JAMB has done is to recommend; We will only determine the minimum, whatever you determine as your admission cut-off mark is your decision.

“We should not be emotional in fixing Nigeria Universities cut-off mark; we need not over-dramatise issue such as cut-off mark.

“In order to enhance transparency in our educational sector, no automated admission for those without the necessary requirements will be tolerated by the board.”

The above statement is what has been circulating online, with most news platforms claiming it was made by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede recently regarding this year’s cut-off marks, however, Naija News can report that the statement was not made this year but last year during JAMB’s 2018 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions into Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.
