Naija News understands that the Sultan made this known on Monday, June 3.
The Sultan said credible and reliable reports were received from many places which include Gwandu in Kebbi state, Damaturu in Yobe state and Jema’a in Kaduna state, among other states in the country.
Abubakar prayed Allah to rewards the “month-long fasting with Jannatul Firdaus and answer all our prayers offered for our leaders and for peace and development in our dear country.”
The Sultan also called on Muslims to live peacefully with one another irrespective of religious or tribal differences.
Meanwhile, the official Twitter account of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, @NSCIAng, also confirmed the development with a tweet.
“The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs wishes to inform the Nigerian Muslim Ummah that the crescent of the month of Shawwal 1440 has been sighted in several places in Nigeria. Therefore, tomorrow Tuesday, June 4, 2019, is the first day of Shawwal. Eid Mubarak,” it tweeted.
