Hon. Chinedu Offor has emerged the new Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly following the resignation of Lawman Duruji.
Duruji had resigned on Thursday two days after he emerged speaker of the State Assembly.
Duruji had defeated Offor by 14 votes to 11 to emerge Speaker on Tuesday after the former Speaker, Acho Ihim had resigned.
Offor’s emergence on Thursday evening was not contested, as he was backed by all his colleagues at the plenary.
Offor, who represents Onuimo constituency, lost his bid to win re-election on the platform of the Action Alliance.
He was, in 2015, elected to the legislature on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
