The President of the Court of Appeal (PCA), Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, has hinted that a female judge will be drafted to replace her at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal. Justice Bulkachuwa dropped the hint on Wednesday shortly after stepping down as the head.

2. Tribunal Reveals How It Will Deliver Judgement On Petitions

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Bauchi State, northern Nigeria, says it would hear and determine petitions challenging the election of Sen. Bala Muhammed of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, without fear or favour. Naija News understands that the Chairman of the three-man penal, Justice Salihu Shuaibu, made this known at the Pre-Hearing Conference on Monday, May 27.

Nigeria’s Apex Court has upheld Comrade Abba Moro has the winner of 2018 senatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue South. The Justices of the supreme court who in a unanimous decision, validated the nomination of Comrade Moro as the authentic candidate of the PDP for the Benue South senatorial district said the petition of Hon Ojobo lacked substance.

4. Supreme Court Asked To Stop Buhari’s Inauguration

One of the political parties that participated in the February 23 presidential election, Hope Democratic Party (HDP) has asked the Supreme Court to stop the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari slated for Wednesday, May 29. Naija News reports that the party made this known in a notice of appeal filed to the Supreme Court on Friday, May 24, where the party faulted the striking out of its motion on the notice by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on May 22, on the ground of lack of merit.

5. Supreme Court Asked To Transfer Buhari’s Power Ahead Inauguration

One of the political parties that participated in the February 23 presidential election, Hope Democratic Party (HDP) has asked the Supreme Court to transfer President Muhammadu Buhari’s power to the Senate President or the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN). Naija News reports that the political party made this known in a notice of appeal filed to the Supreme Court on Friday, May 24.
