1. FG Declares May 29 ‘Work Free Day’

The Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has declared Wednesday, May 29, as ‘work-free day‘ to mark the 2019 presidential inauguration.

Naija News reports that the Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) made the declaration on behalf of the federal government in a statement by the permanent secretary at the interior ministry, Georgina Ehuriah on Monday, May 27.

2. SIP Failure: You Spoke Without Adequate Knowledge, Presidency Fires Back At Aisha Buhari

The senior special assistant to the president on social investment, Maryam Uwais has declared that the federal government’s social investment programmes (SIP) has not failed.

Uwais said this in response to claims by Mrs Aisha Buhari, wife of the President who earlier submitted that the SIP had failed in the north, Naija News reports.

3. Court Sacks Imo APC Reps Member-Elect, Declares New Winner

A Federal High Court in Owerri on Monday ordered the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to Kingsley Echendu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as member-elect for Nkwerre/Nwangele/Njaba/Isu federal constituency of Imo State.

This is following the sack of Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

4. INEC Presents Certificates Of Return To New Winners Of Zamfara State Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission has on Monday, presented certificates of return to the new winners of elections in Zamfara State.

This follows an earlier order of the Supreme Court on Friday which sacked all previous winners of the 2019 general elections in the state.

5. Buhari Gets Asset Declaration Form Ahead Inauguration

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday, received his assets declaration form from the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Prof. Muhammad Isa.

This was disclosed in a post on Twitter by the New Media aide to Buhari, Bashir Ahmad.

6. Presidency Speaks On The Possibility Of Eradicating Boko Haram

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that it will be difficult to totally eradicate or put an end to Boko Haram insurgency.

Naija News learnt that Mr Shehu revealed this during a programme on Channels Television, Sunrise daily.

7. Insecurity: What Northern Governors Told Buhari In Aso Rock

Northern Governors on Monday met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa to proffer solutions on how to stop the killings by bandits in the region.

The meeting which was held behind-closed-doors had in attendance 10 out of the 19 northern governors.

8. President Muhammadu Buhari Signs 2019 Budget

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday at the State House in Abuja, signed the 2019 Nigerian national budget of N8.91 trillion into law.

Naija News understands National Assembly leaders including President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara were in attendance for the signing ceremony.

9. I’ll Soon Become President Of Nigeria, Okorocha Boasts

The embattled Governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has vowed to one day become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Speaking on Sunday during his valedictory thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel in Owerri, Okorocha added that all plans to stop him from getting to the Senate will also fail.

10. Biafra: Why We Ordered May 30 As Sit-At-Home – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said its sit-at-home order to members will serve as a reminder to the overlords in Nigeria that Biafrans are united.

In a statement on Monday by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful on Monday, the pro-Biafra group advised the Nigeria police force and other security agencies to stay indoors and respect that day.
