Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Monday, dissolved the State Executive Council after the valedictory session held at the EXCO Hall of the Benue Peoples House Makurdi, the state capital.

The Governor in his speech during the session thanked the council members for their commitment and support in the last four years.

“Everything that has a beginning must have an end. It has been a challenging assignment but you supported me and the Deputy Governor to overcome the challenges”, Ortom stated.

He also revealed that some of the outgoing council members might be reappointed in the new cabinet which is expected to come on stream in July after the May 29 inauguration for a second term.

Speaking further, Gov Ortom appreciated the cordial working relationship with Engr. Benson Abounu, as the Deputy Governor, describing him as a dependable ally.

He also commended the selfless efforts of the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Ijohor, SAN, Head of Service, Mrs. Veronica Onyeke and the Chief of Staff, Hon. Terwase Orbunde.

In his comments, Deputy Governor, Engr Abounu described the Governor as a man of humility noting that since he was nominated to serve as his Deputy in 2014, they had not had a quarrel even once.

He expressed optimism that the same amicable relationship would be witnessed in the next four years.

Furthermore, Daily Post reports some Commissioners and Aides who spoke on behalf of their colleagues thanked Governor Ortom for the opportunity given them to serve in their various capacities.

They prayed for more of God’s guidance and leadership for the Governor as he begins another term of office for the next four years.
