The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the general elections held in Zamfara State following the ruling of the Supreme Court. Naija News recalls that the Apex Court dismissed an appeal challenging the nullification of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in Zamfara state.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state, northern Nigeria, has appointed 36 new permanent secretaries for various ministries, departments and agencies in the state. Naija News understands that the new appointments were “in pursuit of consolidating the reform initiatives of the present administration towards entrenching greater efficiency and productivity,” a statement by the Head of Service, Auwal Na’iya revealed.

The Governor-elect of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha has accused the administration of Governor Rochas Okorocha of plotting to undermine his inauguration. At a press conference on Saturday, the chairman of the Governor-elect’s inauguration planning and handover committee, Chris Okewulonu also accused government officials of attempts to blackmail Ihedioha.

10. Cyril Ramaphosa Sworn In As South African 5th President

Cyril Ramaphosa earlier today was sworn in as the fifth President of South Africa. Naija News Understands that the 66-year-old leader was unanimously elected by parliament to a five-year term after his African National Congress won legislative elections on May 8, taking 230 of the 400 seats.
