Intrigue As Yari Set To Battle Uzor-Kalu, Umahi, Others For Senate Presidency

Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State has on Saturday summoned leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to an emergency meeting.

This is coming after the Supreme Court of Nigeria dismissed an appeal challenging the nullification of the ruling APC primary elections in the state.

The nations final court also voided all votes cast for the party during the general elections.

The five-member panel of justices, in a unanimous judgment, held that the APC in Zamfara state failed to conduct primaries in accordance with the party rules.

The Apex Court also ruled that the runners up in the election should be declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking to The Cable on Saturday, a source said the meeting is about the supreme court verdict on the 2019 elections in the state.

“His Excellency has summoned all the APC leaders in his faction to a meeting at 2 pm.

“The meeting is about the next line of action after the supreme court ruling,” the source said without going into details.
