What President Buhari Told Nigerian Billionaires To Do

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerian billionaires to develop more confidence in the nation’s economy by massively investing in critical sectors in order to boost job and wealth creation.

Naija News reports that the President made this call on Friday when he hosted members of the business community and leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, to Iftar (breaking of the Ramadan fast) at the State House in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The president stressed that business and political leaders are not only important stakeholders but indeed indispensable to the growth and development of any economy.

President Buhari pledged to continue to make a strong case for synergy toward achieving greater investment in Nigeria’s economy.

The President also assured his guests that he would not only sustain efforts at fighting corruption, insecurity and smuggling but also create a more conducive atmosphere for Nigerian businesses and industrial concerns to thrive.

President Buhari promised to work more closely with the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) “towards ensuring that the country’s foreign reserve continues to grow so that Nigeria maintains a pride of place amongst the comity of nations.”

He also spoke extensively on reasons for his decision to delay Nigeria’s ratification of the continental free trade area agreement.

The chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, who spoke on behalf of the business community, promised to support the ongoing efforts aimed at transforming the nation’s economy for the general good of the citizens.

Among the government officials at the fast-breaking event, were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha and the Chief of Staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari.

APC members that joined the President to share the fast-breaking meal were the National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole, immediate past national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie Oyegun; the party’s National Vice Chairman, North West, Inuwa Abdulkadir and other party officials.

Members of the business community in attendance of the fast-breaking meal included Chief Emeka Offor, Tony Elemelu, Alhaji Isiaka Rabiu and Femi Otedola.
