1. Supreme Court Rules Against APC In Zamfara

The Supreme court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Friday, May 24, dismissed an appeal challenging the nullification of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in Zamfara state, northern Nigeria. Naija News reports that the apex court also voided all votes cast for the party during the general elections.

2. Fayemi vs Eleka: Supreme Court Delivers Final Judgement On Ekiti Governorship Election

The Supreme Court has on Friday, delivered judgement on the 2018 governorship election in Ekiti state which produced Governor Kayode Fayemi as the winner. The apex court, in a unanimous judgment on Friday, upheld Fayemi’s election as the governor of Ekiti State, The Nation reports.

3. Theresa May To Step Down As British Prime Minister On June 7

British Prime Minister, Theresa May, has tearfully announced her decision to step down from her position on June 7, bringing an end to controversies surrounding her leadership. Announcing her decision on Friday, she said; “It is now clear to me that it is in the best interest of the UK for a new PM to lead that effort”.

4. Police, Students Clash At Caleb University (Video)

Some students of Caleb University, Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city, on Friday, clashed with officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) within the school premises. Naija News reports that the incident occurred during a protest embarked upon by the students in response to what they (students) described as a ridiculous “7 pm rule” set by the school management which led to the suspension of one of their colleague.

The Katsina State government led by Governor Aminu Bello Masari has announced stiffer penalty of a death sentence against kidnappers and cattle rustlers in the state. Naija News reports that the governor made this announcement on Friday shortly after signing two law – the penal code and procedure laws in the state.

7. Ramadan: Buhari Hosts Dangote, Otedola, Other Billionaires (Photos)

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday hosted Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola and other members of the Business Community to Iftar (Ramadan breaking of fast) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
