Breaking: INEC Declares PDP Winner Of Zamfara Elections (Video)

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the general elections held in Zamfara State following the ruling of the Supreme Court.

Naija News recalls that the Apex Court dismissed an appeal challenging the nullification of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in Zamfara state.

The nations final court also voided all votes cast for the party during the general elections.

The five-member panel of justices, in a unanimous judgment, held that the APC in Zamfara state failed to conduct primaries in accordance with the party rules.

INEC, following the judgment by the court, said it met and took advise from its lawyers based on the judgement and determined that in the Governorship, the PDP won both the Governorship and Deputy Governorship positions.

The electoral body also declared National Rescue Movement (NRM) winner for a State Assembly seat.

INEC disclosed that it will issue Certificates of Return to the Governorship and National Assembly winners on Monday.

While State Assembly members-elect will get their Certificates of Return on Friday 31st May 2019.
