Fayemi Elected Chairman Nigerian Governors Forum

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Wednesday emerged the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) for a tenure of two years.

Naija News learnt that Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State was also elected as vice-chairman of the forum.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State was believed to be a contender for the top position, however, he dropped his ambition and nominated the Ekiti State governor.

Governors from the south had expressed a desire for the rotation of the chairmanship of the forum, which was previously held by Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State.

Fayemi and Tambuwal’s tenure will expire in 2021, but they can seek re-election for another two years.
