Shocker! Gyan Rescinds Retirement, Heads To Afcon 2019
Ghana legendary striker Asamoah Gyan has backtracked on his decision to retire from international football just 24 hours after angrily retiring from the Black Stars.
The Turkey-based striker also accepted to the role of being the General Captain of the Black Stars after quitting the team over Kwesi Appiah’s decision to strip him of the captaincy.
The 106-capped international reversed his decision after speaking to the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo, on Tuesday.
Afcon 2019: Kenya To Play DR Congo In Friendly
The Harambee Stars of Kenya will tackle DR Congo in a friendly as part of their preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
Kenya Football Federation President Nick Mwendwa has confirmed to Goal that the friendly against DR Congo will be played in Madrid on June 15.
“We have secured a friendly against DR Congo and it will be played in Madrid, Spain. It is just a one-hour flight from France and the coach is very okay with that,” Mwendwa told Goal.
AFCON: NFF Reveals What It Expects From Super Eagles
Ahead of the African Cup of Nations, the 1st Vice-President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Seyi Akinwunmi, on Tuesday stated that the body is not pressurizing Super Eagles to win the tournament at all cost.
Akinwunmi while speaking with NAN stated that the football administration would not put pressure on the Gernot Rohr’s men but expect them to be at their best during the competition.
The Nigeria National team will play in the competition which will be hosted by Egypt from June 21 to July 19.
