Atiku Vs Buhari: Name PDP Members Plotting Buhari’s Overthrow – Sowunmi Tells FG

The spokesperson for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, has challenged the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to name the opposition leaders it accused of promoting crisis and acts of treason against the nation.

In an open letter which he addressed to Buhari and made available to newsmen on Sunday, Showunmi said failure to name the suspected opposition leaders would imply that the administration was a victim of “a Frustration-Aggression-Displacement Theory.” He said the theory posits that a person frustrated by not being able to accomplish a task usually misdirects his or grievances against wrong persons.

Buhari: Saraki Eyes Kwara Ministerial Position

If feelers seeping out from the Kwara State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is anything to go, there is a titanic battle currently ongoing between two of the state’s prominent people in what amounts to a straight shoot-out for control of the local chapter of the APC.

Both camps have started beating the war drums ahead of the impending inauguration of the new administration, ThisDay reports.

In one corner with her followers stands Gbemisola Saraki, daughter of the late strongman of Kwara politics and second republic lawmaker Olusola Saraki.In the other corner is long-serving APC stalwart and former National Publicity Secretary of the party Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Like two elites athletes who have set their sights firmly on the finish line, Gbemi Saraki and Lai Mohammed are eyeing the ministerial slot for Kwara in President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term.

Nigerians React As Buhari Shows Running Skill In Mecca

A storm of reactions by Nigerians has greeted a video of President Muhammadu Buhari running while performing the Lesser Hajj in Mecca (Makkah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has surfaced online.

Naija News recalls that President Buhari accepted an invitation by the King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the ruler of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to perform the Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) in the Kingdom.

Days after the invitation, pictures of the President and his wife Aisha performing Umrah (lesser Hajj) at the Masjid Haram (the Grand Mosque) in Makkah surfaced online.

National Assembly: Senate Leadership Tussle Gets Dangerous

Barely three weeks to the inauguration of the ninth National Assembly, lawmakers loyal to the incumbent Leader of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan and Mohammed Ali Ndume, are flexing muscles and spoiling for war following a disagreement over the voting pattern to be adopted in the election of presiding officers.

Lawan and Ndume are the frontline contenders for the office of the Senate president. While Ndume’s camp is rooting for a secret ballot which is currently the position of the Senate’s Standing Rules, Lawan’s loyalists are pushing for an open ballot system.

A ranking lawmaker, who spoke to newsmen, on Sunday, revealed that senators-elect who are loyal to the candidate favoured by the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lawan, are mounting pressure on the presidency to ensure that the National Assembly management adopt the open ballot system.

Kano Emirates: Ganduje Tells Rano Emir To Sanction Sanusi For Resigning

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has directed the Emir of Rano to sanction the district head of Bebeji, Alhaji Haruna Sanusi, over his purported resignation.

He gave the directive during a condolence visit on Sunday to the Emir of Rano, following the death of the wife of Justice Wada Rano, Hajiya Khadija Wada Rano. “If it is true that he resigned, the emir can just send a representative there before the appointment of a substantive district head,” the governor said.

It could be recalled that Alhaji Haruna Sanusi had resigned as the district head of Bebeji in protest against the new emirates, but later withdrew the resignation letter. Speaking further, Dr Ganduje assured that the new emirate councils had come to stay, insisting that they were created in good faith.

Facebook: APC, Buhari Real Enemies Of Nigeria – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that Facebook’s revelation detailing the alleged devious manipulations and engineering of disinformation in the 2019 election by the All Progressives Congress (APC) further exposes them as “real enemies of our democracy and national cohesion.”

In a statement by PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said the revelation exposed APC as a fraudulent and violent-loving party.The statement reads in part: “Indeed, the Buhari Presidency and the APC should hide their faces in shame as Nigerians have seen that their professed sanctimony and ‘holier-than-thou’ claims are mere masqueradings.

“Our party notes that there are more damning revelations against the APC, not only on its rigging of the general election but also on how it is working against our nation, which will come to light at the appropriate time.

Ondo Governorship Race Heightens APC Crisis

The race to the Alagbaka Government House in Akure may have further heightened the internal crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.

The party appears to be in disarray and efforts to settle the crisis by both the leadership of the party at both the state and national levels have not yielded any positive results.

Daily Sun gathered that the current crisis rocking the party may not be unconnected with the ambition of some leaders of the party to contest next year’s governorship election in the state. It has been established that two major factions exist in Ondo State chapter of the APC and the two factions parade array of political stalwarts interested in the governorship contest.
