Man In Court For Breaking Into Policeman’s House

Man in court for burglary

An alleged serial burglar identified as Shefiu John, was on Thursday ordered by an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court to be remanded in prison.

The suspect had allegedly broken into a policeman’s house and stole three cell phones.

John is charged with breaking and entry and theft.

Sgt Rodah Kayode, the prosecution Counsel, told the court the suspect broke into the house belonging to Insp. Idowu Oladeji and stole an Infinix hot V phone, a Tecno WX 3P phone and a Tecno phone, all valued at N80,800.

Rodah revealed that one of the stolen phones was recovered from the suspect.

She stated that investigation had it that John specialises in breaking into people’s houses in Eiyenkorin area, Ilorin.

Rodah called on the court to remand the john in prison custody pending the outcome of the police investigation.

The prosecutor said that the offense contravened the provisions of sections 354 and 287 of Penal Code Law.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

John was ordered to be remanded in Mandala Prison Ilorin by Magistrate Mary Bamidele, pending when the police complete investigation.

She adjourned the case until May 30 for further mention.
