The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan zonal office, on Monday, arrested a member of the feeder team of Shooting Stars Sports Club, Dayo Oginni for alleged involvement in internet-related offences.
Oginni was apprehended by the commission alongside his brother-in-law, Alabi Okikiola; and his friend, Jonas Okwuwe, at a location on Fortune Estate, in the Ologuneru Olonde area of Ibadan.
They were arrested following a petition from a neighbour, who raised suspicion over their lifestyle, he also stated that they did not have any known source of income.
“Upon receipt of the petition and further discreet investigation, operatives of the commission carried out an early morning raid which led to their arrest on Monday,”.
More investigation into the arrest has it that Oginni is a member of 3Sc feeder team, but an official revealed that he had not been to training for a while.
The suspects in their statements to the EFCC, Oginni stated that he was an Ordinary National Diploma Part 1 student at the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Okwuwe revealed that he is a Computer Science graduate from the Auchi Polytechnic, while Okikiola, stated that he had a Higher National Diploma in Accounting.
Items recovered from the suspects included laptops and phones of different brands.
The EFCC said, “They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
