1. Samuel Ortom Meets With President Buhari Behind Closed Doors
President Muhammadu Buhari earlier today met separately behind closed doors with Governors Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, Samuel Ortom, Benue, and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
On his part, Ortom disclosed that he updated the president on the current security situation in Benue.
2. Ganduje Presents Staff-Of-Office To New Emirs
Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Monday presented the staff of office to four new emirs in the state.
Naija News understands that the state Governor presented the staff of office to the Emirs following the recent breakup of the Kano emirate.
3. IGP Appoints New Head Of Police Complaints Response Unit
The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammed Adamu, has appointed ACP Markus Ishaku Basiran to head the Complaints Response Unit (CRU) of the Force.
ACP Markus Ishaku Basiran takes over from ACP Abayomi Shogunle who has been redeployed as Area Commander Nkalangi, Ebonyi State.
4. May 29: Buhari To Hold Low-Key Swearing-In Ceremony
The Presidency has revealed that the second-term inauguration ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29 will be a low-key event.
It added that most of the events scheduled to hold during the inauguration will now be held during the first observance of June 12 as the National Democracy Day.
5. Sowore Suspended As National Chairman Of AAC
The African Action Congress (AAC) has suspended Omoyele Sowore as the National Chairman of the party.
This development was announced by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) at the end of its meeting in Abuja, on Monday.
6. Atiku vs Buhari: Group Urges Appeal Court President To Step Down
A group called ‘Access to Justice’ has told the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, to step down from the Election Tribunal hearing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Atiku Abubakar’s petition against the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement on by its Convener, Joseph Otteh, the group said this had become necessary as the Bulkachuwa is married to a Senator-elect on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mohammed Bulkachuwa.
7. “I Am Wiser Now”, Ambode Claims As He Visits President Buhari
The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, during his visit to President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday stated that he is wiser politically with his four years experience in office.
Governor Ambode was at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to pay the President a visit which he described as a “thank you visit”.
8. I Won’t Seek Re-election into Senate After 2023 – Ekweremadu
Current Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu has disclosed that he won’t run for Senate again once he completes his term with the 9th assembly in 2023.
The Senator said this according to a press statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, May 12 as part of the celebration of his 57th birthday, Naija News gathered.
9. Real Reason EFCC Is Investigating Saraki – Sagay
The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof Itse Sagay, has said the EFCC was investigating Senate President Bukola Saraki for alleged acquisition of properties by fraudulent means and not false declaration of assets.
EFCC had last week sealed off some properties belonging to Saraki located in Ikoyi, Lagos State while investigations the period he was governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011.
10. Court To Hear Suit Challenging Tanko Mohammed’s Appointment As CJN
June 3 has been scheduled by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja today, to commence hearing of the suit challenging the appointment of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The trial judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, fixed the date after striking out an exparte application seeking to serve the Acting CJN with court processes in the matter after been withdrawn by the applicant and the plaintiff, Chief Malcolm Emokiniovo Omirhobo.
