Court Sentences Two Brothers, Friend To Prison For Internet Fraud

Two brothers identified as Seun and Abidemi Olaogun, and their friend, Ojor Alex, have been sentenced to four months in prison for internet fraud by the High Court in Ilorin.

The two brothers and Alex were sentenced by Justice M. Abdulgafar after they pleaded guilty to the allegation.

According to NAN, they were convicted due to the plea bargain agreement entered by the convicts with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The counsel to the commission, Nnaemeka Omewa, while speaking in the court stated that the convicts were apprehended by the commission in possession of several fake documents, two laptops, and three iPhones.

Omewa revealed that the convicts back in March agreed among themselves to do an illegal act to wit, cheating by impersonation.

“They pretended to be one Ava Coles, a white Caucasians female, with a Gmail account, [email protected]

“They also pretended to be one Victoria Perkins, a white Caucasian female, with a Gmail account, [email protected]

“And pretended to be one Rox Anneanne, a white Caucasian female, with a Gmail account, [email protected],” he said.

The prosecutor said that the convicts committed the offence contrary to sections 95 and 321 of the penal code law and punishable under section 324 of the same law.
