Samuel Ortom Meets With President Buhari Behind Closed Doors

President Muhammadu Buhari earlier today met separately behind closed doors with Governors Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, Samuel Ortom, Benue, and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Details of the meetings are still being awaited, but Ambode told State House correspondents that he was in the villa to thank the president for his visit to Lagos State in April where he inaugurated several projects. On his part, Ortom disclosed that he updated the president on the current security situation in Benue.

Naija News reports that Buhari also met with Mr Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), where he was quoted as congratulating him over his re-appointment for another five-year term.

Benue Youths Kills Notorious Criminal In Gboko

A suspected armed robber has been killed by an angry mob in Gboko, Benue State.

According to an eyewitness, the suspect popular known as ‘One Man Squad’ was believed to be behind robberies in the town.

Sources said the robber specialised in robbing hawkers, business owners and politicians.Governor Samuel Ortom said on Wednesday that efforts were on to apprehend criminals in the state including ‘One Man Squad’.An eyewitness, identified only as Terna, said ‘One Man Squad’ was caught as he attempted to rob a filling station in Gboko.

Calm is said to be gradually returning to Rafin kada and Kente in Wukari local government area of Taraba state after about 14 persons were killed by suspected Tiv militia, Daily Trust reports.

The chairman of Wukari local government council, Mr. Adigrace Daniel, gave this information to newsmen today.

He said there is calm in the area as soldiers took charge. Several roadblocks were mounted along roads leading to the trouble areas to prevent more attacks by the suspected militia. The chairman said those that fled the area in the wake of the attacks have not returned.
