KWASU: Gov. Ahmed Reverses His Decision, Resolve Issue With Institution’s Management

The Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed, during the weekend, resolved the crisis affecting the state university, Kwara State University, Malete.

The governor, during a meeting with the governing council of the institution, accepted the decision of the council and thereafter ordered them to control the affairs of the school in respect to the guidelines.

Recall that Naija News had earlier reported that Governor Abdulfatah last week appointed Prof. Kenneth Adeyemi as the acting Vice Chancellor of the institution.

He also called on the outgoing VC of the institution, Prof. Abdurasheed Nallah, whose tenure is expected to end on July 27, 2019, to proceed on terminal leave.

A decision which did not go down well with the school authorities and the students of the institution.

In respect to the Governor’s decision, the school was closed down indefinitely as a result of the heat generated from the governor’s directive.

The university management in a statement released said; “All pending issues surrounding the varsity’s crisis have been resolved, the executive governor of Kwara state and the visitor to the prestigious institution in his wisdom has resolved all the issues causing the crisis.

“More so, he gave a directive to the Governing board to go ahead with all necessary process as provided in the KWASU Gazette 2009 (as amended).

Present at the weekend meeting were the outgoing VC, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education Barr Abdullahi Alkinla, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof Saka Nuru, Alhaji Kola Yusuf and Hon Oba Aluko both members of the council.”
