Breaking: Appeal Court Gives Final Ruling On Onnoghen’s Suit Challenging His Suspension

The Court of Appeal on Friday dismissed an appeal filed by Justice Walter Onnoghen, challenging the exparte order granted by the CCT that led to his suspension.

Recall the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) had convicted Onnoghen on six counts bordering on false assets declaration and removed him from his seat as Chief Justice of Nigeria.

National Assembly: Ndume, Lawan Jostle For PDP Votes

The race for the position of Senate President in the 9th National Assembly will likely be a two-horse race between Senator Ahmad Lawan, incumbent Senate Leader, and Ali Ndume (APC-Borno South).

Both senators, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are currently in talks with their colleagues, but it is still unknown where senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will pitch their tent.

Sources said the PDP may decide the contest as the gladiators are already warming themselves to the opposition party’s senators to outdo each other.

2019 Kogi Guber Election: I Won’t Be Contesting, Faleke Declares Again

The Honourable Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives and former Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has again stated that he has no interest in contesting the 2019 governorship election in the state.

Recall Naija News earlier reported that Faleke already stated that his focus is on representing his people at the Ikeja Federal Constituency in the lower chamber of the National Assembly and has no interest in the governorship election.

His latest reaction comes after his posters were seen in Kogi State and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, throwing up insinuations that he may be interested in the Kogi top seat.

Atiku Reveals Next Move If Tribunal Declares Buhari Winner

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed he would accept the outcome of the Presidential Election Tribunal on his petition challenging the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the 2019 election.

Speaking through the spokesperson of his campaign organisation, Segun Sowunmi, Atiku stated that he would not allow Nigeria to experience crisis or spilling of innocent blood in a bid to get justice. He was more interested in institutional reforms that would enhance national development.

Ramadan Prayers Interrupted As Gunman Invade Mosque

Scores at an East London Mosque had to run for safety as a masked gunman gained access to the mosque premises and opened fire.

Naija News understands that the attack was carried out at the time the Muslims were gathered for Ramadan prayers in the mosque premises.Shots were heard by Muslims at the Seven Kings Mosque in Ilford for evening prayer late on Thursday, May 9.

Sowunmi said: “We hope and pray that the cankerworm, nepotism, corruption and lack of integrity that has eaten deep into the fabrics of this society would be caught.“But it’s up to the courts to demonstrate that they are immune. And I think this election tribunal will do its work. People want to know how it will go, and of course, we don’t have a choice, we will accept the verdict of history, we will accept the verdict of the court.

The UN has appointed the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, as a member of the new class of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Advocates.
