The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, has fixed Thursday, May 9, to deliver judgement on the Osun state governorship election matter.

The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal has commenced its inaugural sitting holding in Abuja, the nation’s capital city.

A group of protesters led by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has invaded and barricaded the residence of the Labour minister, Dr. Chris Ngige, in Asokoro area of the Federal Capital City, Abuja.

The protesters who stormed the residence as early as 5 am on Wednesday said they took the action against the minister for adamantly refusing to inaugurate the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) Board with Kokori as the chairman of the board.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, May 8, inaugurated the North-East Development Commission (NEDC).

9. Ngige Denies Sending Thugs To Attack Labour Leaders

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has denied sending thugs to attack members of the Nigeria Labour Congress and National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Labour Unions had on Wednesday morning picketed his residence over his refusal to inaugurate the board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

They were later attacked by hoodlums who left some of their members injured and requiring medical attention.

10. Kano Approves Bill For Creation Of Four Emirates From Kano Emirate

The amendment of the local government and chieftaincy affairs law, paving way for the decentralization of the Kano emirate council has been approved by the Kano state house of assembly.

The effect of the law is that four more first class emirs in the state will be created which includes Rano, Karaye, Bichi and Gaya emirates.
