A group of protesters led by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has invaded and barricaded the residence of the Labour minister, Dr. Chris Ngige, in Asokoro area of the Federal Capital City, Abuja.

The protesters who stormed the residence as early as 5 am on Wednesday said they took the action against the minister for adamantly refusing to inaugurate the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) Board with Kokori as the chairman of the board.

Daily Trust reports that some armed youths were seen throwing stones at the workers who were protesting at the minister’s residence.

Naija News understands that there has been a face-off between workers and the Labour minister over the leadership of NSITF.
